Strathdevon Primary School was opened in 1965 and has a rool of 207. It is a co-educational and non-denominational school. The school is pleasantly situated between East Burnside and the Market Park with the Civic Centre adjacent to the East and the Health Centre to the West. The location of the school is further enhanced by views of the Ochil Hills to the North and open playing fields to the South.

The school building contains 9 classrooms, a large nursery classroom, a general purpose room, a youth and community room and a large assembly/dining hall. The school provides us with a very modern, comfortable and attractive learning and teaching environment. WIFI is installed throughout the school which allows for flexible learning, we have 40 netbooks to support this. The environment of our school is also enhanced by 3 internal "garden" quadrangles, an activity, a cultivated and wildlife garden. These 3 integral gardens provide a valuable context for learning. We have a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), a trim trail and an outdoor classroom to enhance the learning experience for children.

We provide a broad based curriculum incorporating social subjects, literacy (which includes modern languages), numeracy/mathematics, health and wellbeing, science, expressive arts, religious and moral education and technologies.

The school serves a community with a predominance of privately owned and rented housing with some Local Authority housing. The school is also the focus for a wide range of out of schools hours activities, eg. Breakfast Boogie club, Athletics, Badminton, Football etc.

At Strathdevon Primary we aim to provide a high quality of learning and teaching where each child can be helped to achieve their full potential. This is underpinned by the promotion of a positive ethos. We aim to provide a happy, quiet, purposeful learning environment where each pupil feels valued and has freedom to learn. An atmosphere of achievement and consideration for the needs of others is promoted.

The school is very well supported by an active Parent Council.
